Tips for tuning a mandolin

The mandolin is tuned like a violin, but each note is a pair of strings. Tune both strings of a pair to the same note: when they're close, you'll hear a slow wobble that disappears when they match.

Tune in a quiet room, play one string at a time, and let it ring past the initial attack before you read the needle. Within ±5 cents is in tune for almost any purpose. Your audio is analysed in your browser and never uploaded.
