How to practise with a metronome
Start slower than you think you need: the tempo where you can play the passage cleanly three times in a row. Then raise it by 2–4 BPM at a time. Speed comes from clean repetitions, not from forcing the tempo.
Tempo markings
| Marking | Roughly |
|---|---|
| Largo | 40–60 BPM |
| Adagio | 66–76 BPM |
| Andante | 76–108 BPM |
| Moderato | 108–120 BPM |
| Allegro | 120–156 BPM |
| Presto | 168–200 BPM |
The clicks are scheduled by your browser's audio clock rather than a timer, so they stay steady even when the page is busy. Space starts and stops.

Questions
Is an online metronome accurate?
This one schedules every click on the Web Audio clock, ahead of time, so it stays sample-accurate even if your computer is busy.
How does tap tempo work?
Tap the button in time with the music at least three times. The metronome sets itself to the average of your taps.
What BPM is a heartbeat or a march?
A resting heartbeat is roughly 60–100 BPM. A typical march is about 120 BPM.
What's the speed trainer?
In the full version, it raises the tempo by 2 BPM every 4 bars, so you can build speed gradually without stopping.
