Tips for tuning a double bass
Unlike violin, viola and cello, the double bass is tuned in fourths, which keeps fingerings manageable on its long neck. Harmonics at the halfway point of each string are a popular way to fine-tune by ear.
Tune in a quiet room, play one string at a time, and let it ring past the initial attack before you read the needle. Within ±5 cents is in tune for almost any purpose. Your audio is analysed in your browser and never uploaded.
