Tips for tuning a cello

The cello is tuned an octave below the viola. Tune the A string first, then D, G and C. Bowing a long, steady note gives the tuner the clearest signal.

Tune in a quiet room, play one string at a time, and let it ring past the initial attack before you read the needle. Within ±5 cents is in tune for almost any purpose. Your audio is analysed in your browser and never uploaded.
